Comares Village, Andalucia, Spain
7 day workshop plan
You can combine a holiday of watercolour painting and yoga, while your partner/friend walks through the majestic mountains of Malaga with a professional guide , learn some culinary skills under the expert guidance of Esther the owner chef or Guitar and piano lessons with professional musician John.
Based in a gorgeous Andalucian Villa perched on the side of the mountain near the historic ‘white village’ of Comares you can choose to pursue one or more of the above activities while enjoying the idyllic surroundings of 'hidden' Spain.
The Watercolour painting workshop takes place near the small Spanish village of Comares (approx one hour from Malaga). A quaint picturesque village perched high up in the mountains with panoramic views of the Andalucian countryside
Venue
The arts centre is a small complex with villa type accommodation including studio, balconies, garden terraces and swimming pool. There is so much to inspire the would-be painter - from the typical Andalucian architecture to stunning mountain views, olive groves and wild flowers.
Accommodation
Bedrooms at the arts centre are comfortably furnished in local style with bathrooms and some have balconies. Other suitable accommodation is available within walking distance to arts centre.
Painting Workshop
Most students will complete at least one painting per day and Rosemary encourages participants to develop their own styles at a pace to suit each individual. Workshops are suitable both for beginners and those with experience.
Each day begins with a demonstration or talk at 10 a.m. followed by everyone painting at a chosen location out of doors. Lunch break 1-4 p.m. (to allow for a siesta!). Painting class resumes 4-6 p.m.
The object of the course is to sketch and paint from nature and to encourage students to look at colour, composition, light and shade using various watercolour techniques.
Classes will take place on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday is a free day with a possible option of an organised trip to Malaga or Granada (if enough people are interested) or you may choose just to relax at the Arts Centre.
Non-painting partners are welcome to join in all the peripheral activities e.g. evening meals, musical nights and excursion.
There is a 24 hour facility for tea, coffee, herb teas and snacks. Additional available activities include Yoga and Shiatsu. All courses are limited to 8 places.
Hi Rosemary,
My name is Ann Butler and I would be very interested in coming with your group on the painting holiday to Spain. I would be travelling on my own and I am just wondering if I would be the only single person . The village of comares looks a wonderful place to both paint and holiday. I would like to know if there are any places left and if I would have to pay a single room supplement. Look forward to hearing from you.
Ann.
Its a bit far away to commit, but I am interested in possibly participating in your 2014 Andalucia holiday. Please provide whatever info is available, and please keep me informed of any updates.
Thank you.
Camille
Hi Rosemary,
Hope you had an enjoyable Christmas.
I would like to enquire if you have decided on dates in May for the painting holiday in Andalucía.
Wishing you a very Happy New Year.
Many thanks.
Dolores
