Rosemary Burns, a watercolour artist, lives in Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Her work is influenced by the power of the landscape, the stark beauty of the Kildare boglands and the wild ruggedness of the West of Ireland.
Rosemary enjoys travelling and always packs here watercolours and sketch pad! She has lived for long spells in many countries including Spain, France, Albania and Austria. Her travels have given Rosemary the opportunity to capture in watercolour life in the outer most regions of Albania to the Baroque Architecture of Austria.
These days Rosemary is based back in Ireland. But when she cannot be found at home painting in county Kildare she will either be in one of her two favourite places in the world! "I'm lucky as I have two spiritual homes, Connemara and the mountains of Andalucia".
Winter time in Connemara is special. The world takes on a different hue, the wild grasses and bogs turn into a carpet of rich reds and yellows and the mountains appear and disappear in veils of soft blue mist all reflected in the many lakes and rivers. Spring/early Summer in Andalucia is magic. The countryside is awash with wild flowers, the villages are sparkling in the midday sun and the mountains glisten as the last snow melts before the onset of terrific heat.
Rosemary studied Art and Design at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin qualifying in 1994 with a B.Des.Hons.
A well known watercolour artist, her work is included in many private and corporate collections. Rosemary has also illustrated two books published by Cottage Publications, The Liffey and Kildare .
